*Some copywriting that didn’t make it
3 unused mockups of some copywriting for Host of Leyton Christmas tree sales
Today I was sorting through one of the cache of various bits of paper that accrue over projects. This particular pile was from Nov-Dec last year judging from its contents. Anyway, I found some fun mockups of some adverts we never used which I thought I’d post. The graveyard of ‘bits not used’ is an important part of any project…
I like to use the ‘make a small poster’ format as a way of playing around with copywriting ideas and this was one I’d done for Host.
Each year we sell Christmas trees and we have a lot of loyal customers who come back to us every year. Our supplier is great, they’re (relatively) locally grown and always good quality and we price them sensibly (and we think, fairly) so people tend to know about us.
One of these was playing with typography and the ‘If you know you know’ slogan used on social media, the other about tradition, which as every Benedict Anderson fan will know, is very important.
Especially at Christmas: a time rife for reinvention, maintaining and pruning of personal traditions.
We ended up not using the copy for this campaign, but I still like it.
